I am a Sumie Artist. Sumie means Indian-ink paintings. I teach primary schoolchildren the Indian ink paintings when they learn the Japanese Muromachi era by a class of the history at school. The gradation of Indian ink paintings is very beautiful. The Japanese see endless possibilities in the beautiful black and grey tones produced by Indian ink. This work got the prize of the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare at the 44th All-Japan Sumie-art Excellent Work Exhibition.
